Hope you are all doing fine, even though the days are getting shorter and the temperature is going down there on the other side of the world. Just think positive: That means that here at my place the temperature is rising and spring is starting ;)
So I have had a really good week! The week started just normal with lectures and stuff. I did my own training, which felt really good after all the group lessons last week. Normally monday is leg day for me, but yeah after the hiking from last weekend that di not seem a really good idea! That evening I needed to finish some projects and study for my tests.
Tuesday I had a lot of lectures and again did my own free weight training. In the evening there was a beer tasting, which was a lot of fun :) They had some really good beers again.
On wednesday I had class and after that I went to give blood. Here they have the organization come to the university, so it is really easy to go there. I have never donated blood before, so I thought it was good to do it here! I felt a little light-headed afterwards but after some biscuits and chocolate that disappeared quickly. After a few hours I thought I felt fine again, so of course I went to the gym. Not the best idea ever but it was fun and I felt okay.
On thursday I had to hand in a project and after that I had a test. Oops.. Totally screwed it up.. That really sucks, but well can't help it no more. So far my marks are okay, so lets just hope for the best. After going to bodypump I went to a wine tasting. They had all Italian wines and wow they sure know how to make wine. That were some fantastic wines!
On friday I finished with class in the morning and than I had the afternoon to do some stuff that needed to happen. So I went to the hairdresser, wrote a letter to a friend in America and went to zumba. After that I had a night out with some friends. We went out to eat Chinese, which was delicious! We shared plates so I could taste a bit of everything. After that we went to the movie Scorch Trials. It was pretty scary, but I had a great night! So we came home a little late and I went to bed fast because we were leaving early in the morning again.
So saturday we left at 8am for Oamaru! Let's go penguin hunting!! We arrived around noon and walked around in the town a little bit. It was a beautiful day so we had lunch in the sun in the public gardens. Then we went to the wharf and took a look at the victorian precinct. I love those old buildings! Then we were walking to the lookout, but we ran into a man who was going to the penguin colony. He said they always come an hour earlier than they had said to us at the isite. So we went back to the car as fast as we could and went to look at the colony. We saw five penguins arriving during our one and a half hour stay there. It was awesome! These were yellow-eyed penguins and they came out of the sea to go back to their nest. It was so awesome!! Then we went to the blue penguin colony to see them coming back, but unfortunately after one and a half hour waiting, we had seen none.. It was getting pretty chilly so we left. While having lunch in the park we met a woman who said they could be underneath some buildings in their nests. So we went to those penguins, but still did not find them.. Then we walked through a small park and there he was! One small blue penguin!! He was so cute :D After a while we agreed that it was better to leave him alone and went to our bach in Moeraki.
The next morning we woke up at five(!) to be at the Moeraki Boulders before sunrise. We made it exactly in time and it was so worth it! The boulders were beautiful and I had never seen the sun rise out of the sea so it was amazing! After the sun was completely up we went to get our stuff and then to the lighthouse. I had been to this spot with my parents but it was so gorgeous I just had to show the others. So we went to the penguin lookout place and there was an empty beach just like last time.. When we were just about to leave, I spotted a penguin! They were adorable, just running and hopping over the sand and rocks. In total we saw six there! We watched them swim, eat, fight, bath etc. It was the best thing ever!! When they disappeared into the sea and bushes we went for a walk there to see the seals and then we went back to Oamaru. We went to the farmers market (where I bought cauliflower, from which I made pizza which is delicious and I am eating that now ;D). I also tried cheese rolls there, which were made with the most amazing cheese, which came from the cheese factory in Oamaru. We first went to the lookout, which we had not reached the day before and then to the cheese factory. We did a cheese tasting and wow, they have amazing cheeses there! So I bought a piece of sheep cheese (also on my pizza now ;P). Then we drove back to Lincoln and I showered, cooked and now its time to Skype with home.
As you read, it was pretty awesome! Hope you enjoyed reading as well!
